Next to the Drupal default menus, Sector ships with additional preconfigured menus and menu blocks to make it as easy as possible to get started.

A menu is a hierarchical list of menu items used to navigate a website. The Basic Page Management section in the Drupal User Guide explains the concept and main use cases for both sitebuilders and editorial teams.

Administration x x Part of Drupal Core. Administrative task in the Admin theme.
Footer x x Part of Drupal core. Used by Sector for site information links on the public theme. 
Main menu (Sector) x x Sector custom menu replacing the Drupal core Main Navigation menu to allow more control.

User account menu x x Part of Drupal core. Links to the user account pages.

Sector menu blocks (Sector starter theme)

In Drupal 8+, menu blocks are part of core and can be easily placed and configured via the block management. 

<your-domain>/admin/structure/block (Block category menu) 

Menu block Use case
Main menu  Main site sections in level 1 placed in header region. 
Sidebar menu block (In this section)  Main site sections in level 2 placed in the sidebar region via term conditions on standard pages and section entry pages. 
Footer menu Secondary - site information - links in level 1 placed in the footer.
